چکیده

CASE REPORT A thirteen year old boy (at the 80th percentile for height and weight) was weight-lifting, alone, in a makeshift gymnasium at his parents' house. As he approached the apex of a lift, the barbell weighing 30 kg passed posterior to his centre of gravity and began to pull him over backwards. In attempting to retrieve the situation he felt the sudden onset of pain in both wrists as they were forced into hyperextension. Radiographs in the Casualty Department 11+1114

Acute Combined Median and Radial Nerve Palsies after Distal Humeral Shaft Fracture

We report a case of a 29-year-old man who presented with a distal humeral shaft fracture sustained by blunt trauma. Physicalexamination and nerve conduction study were consistent with injury to the median and radial nerves proximal to theelbow. The patient underwent open reduction and internal fixation of the humeral shaft fracture with neurolysis of the medianand radial nerves. Repeat electrom...

Stress fracture of the scaphoid combined with the distal radial epiphysiolysis.

A stress fracture of the scaphoid combined with distal radial epiphysiolysis occurred in a 16 year old badminton player. Repeated shearing and torsional forces by excessive wrist movement from hitting a shuttle probably cause stress injuries in both the scaphoid and the distal radius.

Identification of Radial Nerve in Relationship to Deltoid Tuberosity and Brachioradialis

Background: Several studies have identified the radial nerve in arm using different anatomic landmarks, however, acontroversy remains. Deltoid tuberosity (DT) and brachioradialis (BR) are reproducible landmarks that can be used toidentify the radial nerve (RN) during fracture surgery. Methods: Dissection of RN was carried out in 17 fresh frozen adult cadavers. Using a calibrate...

Scaphoid Stress Fracture in High-Level Gymnast: A Case Report

We present the case of an 18-year-old high-level gymnast who sustained a stress fracture of the scaphoid associated with a distal radial epiphysiolysis. Clinical evaluation demonstrated decreased range of motion of the affected wrist and insidious pain on the snuffbox and tenderness on the distal radial physis. He was submitted to surgical treatment with scaphoid percutaneous fixation and radia...

Acomparison of percutaneous and pin-and-plaster techniques in distal radius fracture

Abstract Background: Distal Radial fracture is one of the most common fractures of the skeletal system. Although it has been believed to be a simple fracture with excellent outcomes, practical operations’ results have always been undesirable and even poor. The goal of this study was to compare two methods of treatment “pin and plaster and precautious pin fixation in patients with unstable extr...
